About the Event
Join us for a Lunch & Learn event, presented by The Jung Center's Community for Conscious Aging. Bring your lunch to an hour that always provides food for thought.
While we spend most of the year coordinating, compromising, and occasionally struggling to find opportunities to be with our families and friends, for many, the holiday season is a time for coming home, and for being together in warmth and kindness. From the perspective of many mindfulness practices, kindness is a quality at the heart of our being. It is a birthright. Join Pam Lewis and the Community for Conscious Aging during Compassionate Houston's Compassion Week as we explore the power of kindness, its benefits to our relationships and the world around us, as well as to our own personal health and well-being. Discover and cultivate simple, evidence-based practices to incline your mind and heart toward kindness, a state sometimes compared to bringing a musical instrument into tune, or to returning to your home within. This year’s Compassionate Week is November 13 – 19. Go to Compassionate Houston for a list of events and speakers: www.compassionatehouston.org
Pam Lewis is President of the Board of Compassionate Houston. She completed a master’s degree in counseling psychology, a Ph.D. in Behavioral Sciences and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. Pam helped establish a private, multi-city practice in rehabilitation, disability management and consulting where she practiced for more than 30 years. Once retired, Pam joined Insight Meditation Houston (IMH). Resonating with compassion practices she learned there, she completed the 8-week Cultivating Compassion Training (CCT) led by Compassionate Houston’s Founder, Rev. Betty Adam, in 2014. She coordinated a Compassion Week project, bringing together Inside Meditation HoustonIMH members and residents of a senior living community to explore memorable acts of kindness. For the past 4 years, she has facilitated quarterly IMH book clubs, primarily around compassion-themed books. Her passions are to help spread CIT training, connect compassionate people and organizations for synergistic purposes and support inclusive and engaged intercultural Houston initiatives. In her free time, Pam is an avid gardener. With her husband, Chris, she is also the devoted caretaker of their 80- year old cottage and an extended lineage of beloved pets and wildlife.
